This is actually something I’m curious about. How much of the success of these events was due to the high average level of intelligence of the participants? It’s sounds like the average participant must have been >130 IQ. Were differences in the aptitudes of participants discernible from their contributions to the events? So was it generally clear if a person was IQ 120, for instance, versus a person with IQ 135? How broadly inclusive could an event like this get without the quality of the event decreasing?

A while back I read that the essay portion of the SAT was the strongest corollary for first-year college grades compared to the standard SAT sections. Is this true?

Let me just say that I maxed out the score (while sleepy!), and got very bad grades in college 😄
