Rating Trump's FDA's "Top 10" Year-1 Reforms

What exactly did the FDA get done this year? And does it matter?

Marty Makary—head of the FDA—just put out his list of the FDA’s top 10 reforms in the first year of the Trump administration. Let’s go through and rate them and then, based on these “top 10” items, give the Trump-II FDA its year one pass-or-fail grading.


  1. “A MASSIVE RESET of our broken food supply.”

  2. “Eliminating unnecessary animal testing.”

  3. “Making FDA decision letters public.”

  4. “Launching national priority vouchers.”

  5. “Menopausal hormone therapy / HRT.”

  6. “Cracked down on pharma ads.”

  7. “First government agency to launch AI tools agency-wide.”

  8. “Cutting red tape on biosimilars”

  9. “Unleashing cell and gene therapies.”

  10. “Boosting domestic manufacturing.”
