What do you think of Nephew Jonathan's suggestion to use calcium carbonate powder instead of sulfur dioxide?

Very good read. Was wondering, though, where you got the "0.1 to 0.01 metric tons per square kilometer" estimate. I am assuming this has some basis in some other calculation/research, but would appreciate a link, as that is both a wide range and not something I have a sense of how it would work (in contrast to the 70% attrition rate, which, yeah, I can see how not everything would become acid rain and 70% doesn't seem like a crazy number).

A wild guess, if you have a better number with a reason why, I'm all ears. The big take away is that sulfur dioxide in the stratosphere is directionally correct to cause net cooling. We can carefully scale up deployments and see what happens. The upper bound is a Pinatubo scale deployment to reproduce what happened in 1991 minus the ash, lava, and non-SO2 in the stratosphere.

You have no right to execute such thing without scientific consesus, consent from the people and official permission from regulating agencies.

Hell is full of good intentions, hero syndrome normally ends up badly. Let nature do its thing and if you want to change things for the better, the change needs to come from the industries that caused problems in the first place.

Please tell me what frequencies are you blocking from the sun, and the percentage of each frequency that is being suppresed?

Do you know that every biological function in human's and plant's biology depends on solar altitude and its full spectrum sunlight?

Don't play with mechanisms you don't fully understand. There are many things you are not accounting for by doing this.

By blocking the sun you are creating a circadian misalignment, potentially messing up ecosystems and human health.

WHAT YOU ARE DOING HAS SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES TO ALL ANIMALS AND PLANTS.

Please consider educating yourself on circadian biology and how important it is to minimze the usage of circadian disruptors. You and your company are blocking EMF's from the sun, long-term this destroys many biological mechanisms.

This is a good starting point:

What you see in the above study is about artificial light at night, but SPF's, sunglasses, windows, glasses, also have the same negative effect.

Please consider this.

Didn’t Neal Stephenson write a hard sci-fi book exploring exactly this idea to save the planet from climate disaster?

Hard *science* sci-fi

Yup! It's called "Termination Shock" and where my co-founder Luke got the inspiration to start the company. He interviewed Neal years before for Make Magazine and still had his email https://makezine.com/article/science/neal-stephenson-answers-o/. So pinged him after he read the book and asked if SAI was actually possible. Then did his own research and started the company.

Well that’s exactly what (good) sci-fi is for. Good for Luke! And how fortunate for all of us! I sure hope Neal is an investor 😂
