The Torah plays the largest role: because of the text, only in Judaism do we believe we can change G-d and His mind. Only in the Judaism do we believe that Good Works will change the future of the world. This mindset means that Jews culturally and instinctively understand that we can - and must - strive to change the world. That belief alone gives us the courage and risk tolerance to attempt what others do not.

Excellent point; this mindset can drive significant human advancement, but if unchecked, it can lead to an overwhelming sense of superiority and privilege.

Actually, this thought is a common denominator of the Judeo-Christian theology that the wokesters speak so derogatory about as "white privilege" and "culture of whiteness".

Jews are far too small in number (0.2% of the population) to imagine that we are anything but deeply dependent on the goodwill of others. It is a key reason why Israel refuses to win its wars - too insecure to be sure that we would weather the backlash. That is the irony - only because of Jewish insecurity has the war with the Arabs lasted this long!

That number, 0.2%, is worldwide, but in Western Civilization it's 2.0%, still very low. But Jews have a very influential position in areas of importance to Western society. So be honest about it.

While the current review accentuates slowly-working evolutionary pressure, I would like to stress that the Scripture actually describes (as a counterpoint) a within-one-generation extreme upward mobility. As one can see from the stories of Joseph in Egypt, Daniel, Azariah, Hanania and Mishael in Babel, or Esther, Mordechai, Ezrah and Nehemiah in the Persian Empire.

after watching the resurgence of anti-Semitism on the American right I've been developing a new theory for Jewish IQ and excellence. maybe it's just that we are immune to anti-Semitism, I mean indulging in it. we have no one else to scapegoat and blame all over the world's problems on- thus you are are forced to solve your own problems. Further compounded by the fact that the religion itself advocates self-guilt, introspection and responsibility to a very high degree.

Fascinating study of historic influence on class outcomes. This takes one down roads that are not intrinsically obvious.
